itunes store blank page

Hi,

I use iTunes on my iMac 11,1 with Mavericks. On the iTunes-Store, I only can access to some categories (Music, books, ...). I can't access to Apps and podcasts. They leave the screen blank. When I search for something, I don't get a result. It doesn't connect to the store.

What can I do?

Is there a instruction for what to do on the internet?

Thank you for helping.

Many regards,

Thomas

Please read this whole message before doing anything.

This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.

Step 1

The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.

Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”

While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your documents or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.

Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?

After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.

*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.

Step 2

The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.

Please take this step regardless of the results of Step 1.

Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.

Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a Fusion Drive or a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.

Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.

The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.

Test while in safe mode. Same problem?

After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of Steps 1 and 2.

Hello,

thank you very much for helping.

Step 1:

With a Guest Account, everything is good.

Step 2:

The safe mode did not help in this problem.

The podcastpage in the Store stayed blank.

After the usual start, the problem remained.

Can you help with this information?

Regards,

Thomas

Good Morning Thomas,

Despite running my iMac/Snow Leopard/iTunes v.11.1.4; I occasionally get what I call the "lame" iTunes Store w/the same half-baked, incomplete pages, etc... as you described in June; what always works for me is the following:

Sign-out of the iTunes Store.

Restart your computer.

Open Disc Utility & within that application, click on the disc icon that you wish to use.

repair disc permissions

Quit Disc Utility.

Once you are online-

Open iTunes, sign into the store & every page should render rather quickly, and content should now appear as it is supposed to.

I can't promise anything.... but this fix works fine for me.

Best Regards,

mm~

I tried all of the above & it did not fix anything. I have the EXACT same problems that Thomas mentioned above. I can also not sign into my iTunes account to make any purchases or update any Apps. Any other ideas about this? Thanks.

Same problem here.  Blank page at both App Store and Podcasts.  Redeem and Account won't accept my password.  Hopefully a solution makes its way here.

Out of curiosity are others experiencing these problems also suffering from pages not loading and Safari being unable to connect to the server?  My cookies also seem to have a mind of their own.

Thanks,

Mark

Edit:  Coming back to change a misspelled word proved quite the challenge.  The server could not be found to open this very discussion, and when I initially clicked edit I arrived at the guests post just ahead of mine.  I don't mean to alter the topic (though this town seems abandoned) but just trying to add clues if others are in a similar situation.

I haven't come across any other problems here so far, just iTunes. But thanks for responding, hopefully an update is coming soon. It's very frustrating

Have been driven mad by this problem myself recently - everything up to date on my

mac but iTunes searches didn't work, I could not log in to see my account details and the

app store front page was blank.

BUT this solution worked for me - if you are blocking all cookies on Safari, as I

was (I never use it, so was not aware they were blocked) - just unblock cookies and

hey presto, iTunes should come back as normal. It worked immediately after I had

done this. As to why... that is another question.

DappyHays,

unblocking cookies did nothing on my end. Thanks for the suggestion, but any other ideas are appreciated.

I also have this problem.  Started very recently.  Need an answer.

I just wanted to say that I had exactly the same problem, and exactly the same solution (enabling cookies in Safari) worked. I also don't use Safari, so must have set that preference a long time ago.

Just sign-out and then quit and re-launch the iTunes store. After this please sign-in to your account to access the iTunes store.

In Safari I just changed "always block" cookies to "always allow," quit Safari (which I too pretty much never use), then quit and reopened iTunes -- and voila, podcasts and apps now appear. Very annoying that Safari preferences should have any effect on the iTunes Store! But thank you very much for providing this fix!

Try this. Go to the iTunes menu > Preferences > Advanced tab > Reset iTunes Store cache > and click the Reset cache button. Worked like a charm for me. Never had the problem before. Tried lots of other things that didn't work. So simple, if that's your problem.

IF YOU GET BLANK PAGES AT iTUNES...

...simply set your computer clock appropriately. You'll notice that other websites have been acting sketchy too, and this is because the Firefox OSCP responder goes haywire if your computer clock is not on point.

Nothing says "thank you" like money.

You're welcome.
