Restoring Backup

I  am attempting to restore my iPhone which was last backup this morning. When I enter my password, I get an error message stating that my password is incorrect. That can't possibly be right. In fact, I just entered my password to get access to Apple Support.

Hello wambuim,

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.

For more information on this, take a look at:

iOS: Forgotten passcode or device disabled after entering wrong passcode

Best of luck,

Mario

Hi I have exactly the same issue - I backed up this morning, did not use a password but when I came to restore this afternoon it is asking for a password!  I am stuck without this restore... Please help!!!

Same problem, entered the correct password and it still tells me, wrong password. Marios response also didn't help because it's just completely offtopic.

I fixed this problem.  I never set my iphone backups to be encrypted. But after ios7 upgrade, iTunes kept prompting me for a password to restore my iphone backup (argggg!).

I tried my Apple ID password: No.

I tried my MacOS "user" password: No.

Tried my iphone's unlock passcode: No.

Then I found a video on youtube that gave me a big hint.  Video is called "After Updating iPhone to iOS 7 How to Restore iTunes Backup Password".

This told me there is a SEPARATE "iTunes backup password" that iTunes must have prompted me to set a long time ago.

So I tried a bunch of passwords I have used in the past, and after about 5 tries, I typed the matching password and the restore started and completed.

The video claims there's a program to recover the "itunes backup pw", but I didn't need to go there (since I eventually got a match).

I am suffering from this nuisance as well uhuhuhuhuhhu....this is just a pain in the neck. Did try several passwords but did still showed that it is incorrect.

In my opinion, fromsouth gave the correct reference ...

This article made me realize it could be any of several previous passwords; for me, it was my hard drive encryption password ... I would never thought of that one.  Keep trying folks.

Someone remind me in two years to change the Encryption password before my final backup before loading my new iPhone 6S.

The password that worked for me was my password for Exchange.  Weird.

thanks alot

i really treid alot to enter my i cloud password but it didnt worked and i've read your discussion and i entered some passwords until it woeked

I did 2 things. 1. I read to sync the phone then restore. 2. Change your apple id (icloud) password to a new one.

I did number 2 first then 1 and my phone restored all my contacts.

Not sure what did it but I'm thinking syncing it first did.

I still didn't have contacts but about 2 hours later at work I checked it and they were there.

Hey, I have exactly the same problem too. I tried a million different passwords, but none of them work! Help!

Though I've suffered this same problem more than once - it has always been my WiFi password that works - which makes zero sense since my iPhone is directly attached to the Mac with the backup.  Just the same - that works.

WiFi password was the correct answer for me too.
