Ipad Pro (ios10) Lock on cover close missing

Will not sleep when cover is closed.  (several ? mention sleep is under General tab)  But on mine

Auto-lock is under settings/Display not General. Auto-Lock 5,10,never is under Display tab. A Display model has the lock/unlock when closed under auto-lock tab.  (Air pro 32gb, 9.7", ios 10.01)

Hi. In iOS 10, the lock setting was moved to the Display settings. Have you enabled the Lock/Unlock setting you find there? That enables the cover locking.

I'm in Display/Bright but only getting auto-lock tab. When I looked at retailers demo the lock/unlock with cover close is next line in same menu page. Maybe something with id and passcode. Its set finger ID.

thanks for reply

You have to use Ipad pro cover. At 1st use it lock on cover option will appear.   Air covers will not work. Magnets were moved with Pro release.

My iPad Pro works fine, offers cover-switch setting. Mother-in-law's identical iPad doesn't. I put my cover on her iPad and restarted it. The switch still didn't appear. OS is up to date on both devices. Hers won't respond to magnetic switch on cover and has no setting to turn on.

I'm not so sure about the iPad Pro, I have an iPad Mini 4, and when I go to Settings>Display & Brightness, I can see the Auto-Lock setting. And directly below that is a setting for Lock/Unlock which I can turn on to activate the setting for when opening and closing a cover. You can try checking the iPad User guide for additional help. https://help.apple.com/ipad/10/

Oh, I got caught not paying attention to the date of this thread............shame on me!

This happened to me when a magnet came out of my aftermarket folio style case. Mine has a magnet at each of the two corners furthest from the cover's hinge- on the front side of the case so it can hold the cover closed and also probably signals the iPad in some way at power up so it will give the option to sleep when the folio closes.

I hope this helps people who get here via searches. These problems don't just happen to the one person who asked last year, so there is no shame in adding knowledge much later.

Exactly. iOS detects the cover in the open position and that enables the Lock/Unlock option.
