I want to change my Apple ID to end in @icloud....

I want to change my Apple ID to end in @icloud. com, but the process doesn't go through, the arrow just keeps going round and round until it times out. On my Mac Book Air, Sierra 10.12.6.

You can't change an ID like that. However, there is no reason you can't use your associated iCloud address to log into your Apple ID whenever you need to.
