Why does itunes skip to the next podcast randomly?

Lately when I am playing podcasts that I have downloaded to iTunes every 5 to 10 minutes iTunes will just automatically jump to the next podcast.  It doesn't do it everytime, but does it about 50% of the time I am playing podcasts.  Any ideas why iTunes would just jump to the next song while in the middle of playback of another podcast? 

Same here.  Happens with multiple different podcasts, multiple episodes in every podcast.  iTunes version 11.1.4 (62).  Getting really annoying, especially for podcasts I pay to subscribe to.

Any info on this? It's becoming extremely frustrating.

I play a podcast, then it decides to just play the next one down the line. I'm guessing it's a connectivity issue thing - it runs out of buffer then decides to play the next thing down the line.

Please PLEASE help us find a solution. Between the terrible iTunes podcasts app and now this, I'm really disappointed in my Apple products.

I'm also having this issue, it's making iTunes unusable for podcasts. I've found lot's of other people asking about this but no solutions anywhere.

Yes, me too, identical problem on several versions of itunes right up to the latest (12.3.0.44).  This is extremely frustrating because I have apple airport to stream music & podcasts to my stereo, so I am locked into a non-functioning system and have no other options for playing music in the house & kitchen stereo, short of ditching the apple ecosystem and switching to chromecast.  Please fix.

Have you tried this: iTunes v11+. Podcasts skip/jump during playback or do not download.

I'm still testing so I'm not sure it will solve it.

The solution there failed spectacularly to fix my problem!

Used the fix on all my podcasts, and since I've had numerous skips, but it does seem that it may be specific to a single podcast.

Still trying to figure it out, but I had a long list of that podcast.

I've never had this happen before, but just today subscribed to some new podcasts, and I'll play an episode for about 5 min and then it will suddenly jump to the next episode in the list without finishing the one I was listening too.  Frustrating.  Still have seen a solution posted, it's December 2016 and this problem was originally posted about 2 years ago on February 2014.  I'm listening on a MacBook Pro.
