MacBook Pro Logic Board failure

My laptop is out of default warranty of 1 year by just few months. It was working fine till 22nd September. On 23 September, I pressed power button and it was not powering at all. There was a burning smell coming from my laptop. I immediately visited the service centre and they said that they need to find out the exact reason behind this issue.



 

I got the reply from service centre the other day that they need to replace logic board which comes at half the cost of laptop and even after that it is not promised that laptop will work. 

 

This is the reply from service centre -

" We have Diagnosed the System and found Right now the below issues : Logic Board,2.9 Ghz,8 GB

 

Problem Reported : UNIT NOT POWERING ON BURNT SMELL FROM RIGHT SIDE USB PORT DISPLAY COATING ISSUE issue

 

Issue found After Diagnose : Logic Board,2.9 Ghz,8 GB  (First Step) 

 

Replacement Cost of the Logic Board,2.9 Ghz,8 GB  Rs: 41,579.00 by Apple - 90 days Warranty

 

Service Charges  Rs: 3,000.00 Not Paid

 

The First Step to Replace the Logic Board,2.9 Ghz,8 GB,and After Replacing the above Parts if any Other issue(s) found, you  will be Informed/ an Update will be given to you. 

 

The System is Out of Warranty. While Replacing / After Replacing the Parts, If the system will not startup or will not power on or if any other issue occurs, PCSS Solutions Private Limited. will not be responsible to return the device as it was in its basic or original condition when received. No claim will be entertained. User has to collect the faulty system, after paying the service charge (if not paid in advance)."

 

I have completed my graduation 2 years back and I have already spent my many months salary in buying this laptop. I don't think I can spend this much amount on this now. 

 

I have always handled my laptop with extreme care. There is not a single scratch on the laptop. How is it possible that just after few months of warranty the most important hardware part of laptop stops working. Also it is not sure that whether that part is the cause of problem or not. 

 

I don't think that I am alone here who is facing this issue. I saw 35 pages here which multiple people on each page facing the same issue. Following is one of them -
