Verification Code

My wife has an iPad mini. when she goes to open it she get's the message "Verify your E-Mail Address". She then gets an e-mail message with a Verification code. When she goes to put the code in it says "Incorrect Verification Code"  YET she got the number off the e-mail they sent. We have done this about 4 times and got 4 different codes, yet all were wrong according to the message.

How can I bypass this message since she doesn't use e-mail on this iPad
