Lag problems with Safari/Youtube

Hey guys, I've been having this problem for a while:

When I close Youtube tab (normally with a video) to get to the next tab, sometimes the Youtube tab freezes for a few seconds before closing completely.

Then, Safari starts getting laggy, "choppy" and slow even when I'm on Facebook or other websites in general. I noticed my Mac begins getting slow too.

The only way I temporarily resolve this is to delete Safari's history and datas and start again. Or when Mac's getting seriously laggy is to restart it (it rarely happened).

This problem happened even before updating to OS X El Capitan 10.11.3 (I thought it improved..)

Any clues or suggestions on what to do?

  • I've never installed flash players, adobe etc..
  • I don't have plugins, web extensions installed.
  • I've unclicked Plugin Internet on Safari preference, thought it affected it..
  • This Youtube problem never happens with Chrome
  • I have a Macbook Pro Retina, OS X El Capitan 10.11.3

Please open the iCloud preference pane and uncheck the box marked Safari. Test. Then check the box again, if you wish. Post the results of the test.

Try to reset Safari settings:

1.Open Safari

2. Click on Safari menu at the top(to the right from the Apple logo)

3. Select preferences/privacy tab

4. Click on Remove all website data

5. Close Safari.

Delete Safari cache files:

1. Click on finder

2. Look for GO menu at the top

3. click on GO and hold down the option key. This will show user library folder.

4. Click on Library and look for Caches folder

5. In caches folder open com.apple.Safari folder

6. Move to trash Cache.db file.

Please open the iCloud preference pane and uncheck the box marked Safari. Test. Then check the box again, if you wish. Post the results of the test.

It worked, thank you so much!!

Even though Safari was already unchecked in the iCloud preference, I checked it and it synchronized some bookmarks then I left it unchecked again.

I still wonder why or how it had to do with the lagging though..

I'll let you know when I'm busy watching Youtube and if it's going to occur again. But for now Safari runs smoothly, thanks!

I'm also going to try this method once it occurs again and I'll let you know!

Thanks for the help!!

That worked, until I viewed full frame :-(

This was a life saver. Thank you!!

dude, the wisdom! how did you know it worked. thank you!!!
