iPad Pro Safari brightness auto adjust

iPad Pro 12.9 2nd gen.

When I switch to Safari from the home screen, Safari does a slight adjustment to higher brightness or white point. It does not do that with other apps. When switching to Safari from another app, Safari first dims and when readjusts to higher brightness. I have had this iPad for a couple of weeks and never noticed that before. I don't know if the behaviour was there previously or not, I have only noticed it now.

Is this normal? It is sort of annoying and again, it's strange I am only now noticing it. Also I don't understand why Safari would do that.

Auto brightness and all accessibility screen settings are off.

I noticed the behavior after the iPad's screen suddenly dimmed as I was browsing a site. To get it back to normal I turned on and then off gain some accessibility screen brightness setting. Now the brightness seems to be back to normal. True tone was on, but this shouldn't affect brightness. The screen actually went darker.

That was as I was outdoors and the sun set. I hope it isn't a hardware problem with the ambient light sensor. The iPad was quite hot as it was sitting outdoors in a sunny day, but not terribly so.

Now temperature is normal and it does this weird brightness adjustment when I switch to Safari.

Is this normal behaviour?

Mine does the same and I never noticed it until reading this post. Following to see what other say.

Found an explanation? Is it a normal behavior?
