My battery is messed up

I have a 5th generation iPod touch. The battery is really messed up. It charges from 20% to 50% like BAM. then after it's fully charged, i use it and use it then the 20% warning pops up. Then I keep using it and the battery somehow GAINS battery and it comes out of the red zone. Then a few minutes later it shows the 20% warning again. This happens a few more times then eventually it turns off from low battery. BUT I can actually still turn it back on without charging it, then the 20% warning would show up again.

PLZ HELP!!! I'm so confused!

The battery meter on an iPod is not accurate. The fluctuations you see are normal. The test is how long does a full charge (charge at least four hours with screen off). 4-5 hours of video for a used iPod is about the norm.

I have the same problem on my iPod Touch 6g. I just ignore the battery level and bring a power bank.
