macOs Sierra can't select "System" in clean up

So i logged on to my mac one day and wanted to clean some stuff out. So i went on about this mac, under the apple sign and I clicked storage and then manage. But when I got there I couldn't select system as it was greyed out but it was taking up 30 GB. Does anyone know why that happens or how I can fix it? That would be helpful!

It is showing the data how much the system has occupied from total available space in Macintosh HD ,and it is greyed by default .

Well System is greyed out to stop you deleting files that are necessary for your Mac to function properly.

So leave well alone, 30GBs is normal.

Buy an external drive and move YOUR files to it to free up your Macs hard drive.

In previous versions of the OS, there was an Other category. It was everything on the disk that did not fit into the rest of the named categories. Everyone freaked out at how large it was.

So, they have now removed Other and called it System. Everyone freaks out about how large it is.

Everything listed is categorized by Spotlight. If Spotlight doesn't know what it is, it is lumped in with "System."

The rest of the categories are things that the OS knows are your files, so you are free to remove them at will.

The things in System are either things you should not remove, or things the OS doesn't know enough to allow you to remove them. The OS isn't going to make a call that they are OK to delete.

You can always use another program to try to determine what they are and remove them if you think it is ok.

Grand Perspective, OmniDiskSweeper, etc.
