fake disk failure

Mac Pro (2009)

El Capitan 10.11.6

2.66 GHz

8GB RAM

3 internal HDs

  Disk 1 - system

  Disk 2 - data

  Disk 3 - data

Disk 3 = S.M.A.R.T. - failure - Disk Utility can’t repair. / MAC start-up wants me to re-install system or TimeMachine Backup (which is not needed, because the computer works fine when Disk 3 is removed from the machine).

HOWEVER- when I remove Disk 3 and connect it to my MacBookPro via external drive-caddy and run Disk Utility - disk comes up with NO ERRORS.

This happened after I reset the PRAM on the Mac Pro.

Does anyone have an idea how to fix this issue??
