I purchased the ne iPhone 8 Plus .. I was not a...

Purchased new iPhone 8Plus . Tried to transfer data from old iPhone 5 se ... Using the iCloud... my text messages dating from March 2017 until September 29 2017 and my photos that i took using the old 5se from March 2017 until September 29  didnot transfer from the iCloud? So from March until September i have a “hole” where I am missing text messages and photos ... Any ideas ??

You can try restoring from a previous backup to retrieve the text messages. 

For the photos, were you previously using iCloud Photos?  If you were and enable it, it should populate to the phone.
