Can a recovery partition work without a hard dr...

Can one run an Internet Recovery partition from a MacBook Pro 8,1 without any sort of hard drive or removable storage of any kind installed in/or connected to the machine?

Along with this it'd need to run on an i486 processor or at least indentify as such. The SMBIOS version necessary is 2.1 although I'm curious about 2.4 as well. SMBIOS 2.4 I believe was released in 2004 so 2.1 must be even more ancient and I believe I read that the Intel i486 processor came out sometime in the 1900s. It'd also need to possibly believe it has a quad core processor even though it is only a dual core and report it is running on 10.12.6. Thanks!

Yes. It's loaded from Apple's servers.

If there is no storage device of any sort installed in or connected to the MBP, there is no place to install the operating system. So no that can't be done.
