€ Euro Currency symbol in ActiveSync passw...

Are there any known issues when using the € Euro Currency symbol as a password for ActiveSync on an iOS device? It appears ActiveSync does not accept the  € Euro Currency symbol when used in a password sent from an iPad/iPhone.

Are there any known issues with special characters and ActiveSync?

Thanks for your help.

Regards,
Dennis

ActiveSync was developed for Windows.  You'd have to know what code page the Windows device was using to make sure you understood how the character should be coded.

Generally speaking, I wouldn't use any character in a password that didn't have an ASCII code.  We've even had trouble with accented characters.

Thanks, I fully understand the ActiveSync is a Micrsoft product. I have tested using a password with the same character in it when configuring ActiveSync on a Blackberry 10 and Android device with no issues. This appears specific to iOS only - or at least the translation iOS proivdes to Activesync for that character.

I suspect that Unicode and page numbers is involved.  And I wouldn't use a non-ASCII character in a password.  For instance, I may find myself using a keyboard in someone else's office on which it's impossible to type it.

I also have to deal with this issue.

It really seems to be a character set conversion / (or non conversion) problem.

At https://www.i18nqa.com/debug/utf8-debug.html you can find a list of problematic conversions. Although I can't promise this as definitive answer, a quick test showed a very high probability for this list to be adequate concerning negative examples.
