iPod Touch 6 Battery Life

I recently purchased an iPod Touch 6 to replace a 5 that was starting to lag and glitch.

I've been using it for internet browsing, and I've only been getting 1 1/2 hours out of the battery, whereas with the same amount of use on the 5 I would be able to get upwards of 5-6 hours. I have every battery-improving setting I can find turned on, and I'm not using it for much, but the battery life is still terrible. I'm wondering if I've just gotten a dud and if I should try exchanging it?

Try:

- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost

Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at

least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears

- Reset all settings

Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.

All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.

- Restore from backup. See:

Restore your device from an iCloud or iTunes backup - Apple Support

- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

Hey,

I've got the ipod touch 6 to replace my 5 generation ipod in January 2017.  I've experienced the same issue (purchasing it with iOS 10 preinstalled).  I would use it for approximately an hour or two during the day with strictly youtube, the tv app and miscellaneous other activity like web surfing, app updates, etc.

Steps that I took on my end, dimming down the brightness, closed unused apps, notifications are on but disabled, location on but used when the app is only being used, having "background app refresh" off, etc.  Since January 2017, I've done 3 replacements, a system restore, and 1 exchange so currently I'm using my fifth device, I'm still having the same issue.  I still try to minimize the usage if possible, but it must just be me having duds or it's just not as good as the 5th generation. I don't know.

I'm still trying to find the right answer myself.
