iPad pro 12.9 needs a much big charger
Why do they use the same size charger on all of the iPads? The Mac books have small chargers for the airs and large chargers for the Mac book Pros. It is taking me up to five hours to charge my iPad 12.9 inch pro with the standard small charger used for iPads. Should they offer a large pro sized charger for this giant iPad ?
When you buy an Apple branded charger it willl automatically reduce to slow charging after 80% full. So what I have learned is that a 12 watt charger will take 4 and one half hours to charge the large iPad up to 80%.. The 29 watt Apple charger will do that 80% charge in only 90 minutes. The starting point for both chargers would be from zero to 80%. It appears that you can do a 2 hour charge or a 5 hour charge without damaging your battery, with an Apple branded product.
You can submit your feedback to Apple here:

You have the option to spend another almost $80 to purchase the Apple USB-C to Lightning connector and the 29 W charging/transformer block that will charge the 12.9 inch iPad Pro in 2-3 hours, instead of 5, but I don't know, personally, that it is worth an extra $80 just to shave off 2-3 hours of charging time.
Good Luck to You!

Just charge it overnight and you won't care how long it takes to charge. Unless you are used to getting less than 5 hour's sleep.
You would think that after spending almost one thousand dollars on an 12.9 inch iPad Pro, they would include the proper sized charger? They match up the chargers on the Mac books based on their size! And need.!

So tell Apple what you think.

Why? A 12W USB power adapter (it is not a "charger" - the charger is in the phone) is perfectly capable of charging your iPad, especially if you follow the best practice of charging it overnight, which has the added advantage of enabling automatic daily iCloud backup. People who really need to charge faster can invest in a higher current adapter.
iPhones all come with the 5 watt cube and always have. Even though, from the iPhone 6 and later, they charge faster using a 12 watt iPad power adapter.
And of course, the next logical step will be a 50W charger that roasts the iPad charged in 60 minutes flat and kills the thing in 20-30 cycles, so more groaning and teeth gnashing can occur decrying how big bad evil Apple doesn't make things that last.
Interesting scenario, but, as we both know, the power that an adapter is capable of supplying is irrelevant. iOS devices (and indeed, any product using Lithium technology batteries) will only draw as much power as they need and are designed for. I have a 40W Anker power source, but my iPhone 7 Plus only draws 10 watts from it at the start of a charge cycle, and tapers after 75%. I don't have an iPad Pro 12.9, so I can't measure the maximum power it draws as I have for iPhones and lesser iPads.
Yes, I understand the idea of charging the iPad while you sleep. However, this gives you a poor option of charging it during the day, if needed. Once again, the laptops
Give you the proper sized (adapter) charger that match the wattage to the size of the device. I am now required to go buy a $50 -49 watt adapter and a $29.99 USB C to lighting power cord. This does not meet the high quality standards we expect Apple to deliver out of the box.
If this policy is correct then all Mac Books would come with the same sized Small charger but thank god they don't.
Thanks for trying to defend this mistake in matching.

It is possibly in the iPad iitself that the slow charging gets kicked in after 80% full.
