What address cards and it's on a iPad mini just so you know

Hi,

Your post has ended up in OS X 10.9 Mavericks so I gave a response that reflected things that might effect the Mac version of Messages.

If you open Contacts on the iPad what shows for the people you are trying to contact ?

Ralph I know but when I click contact info it says the name but doesn't show it on the side

Hi,

The app will "remember" the contact you had whether or not their details are in the Contacts app.

I am asking that you open the Contacts (Address Book) app and check the actual "Card" for one of the people you are trying to connect to and see if the info is what you expect it to be.

From your post I am not sure where "on the side" is in relation to anything.

Are those phone numbers in your Contacts app and are they associated with specific names?

I mean when you open the app when you pick which chat you want to text

Yes I just checked

In that case do the Numbers show instead ?

YES THATS WHAT IVE BEEN TRYING TO SAY THE WHOLE TIME

Hi,

Rather than shouting (Typing in all capitals) would you like to re-read the thread and tells us where you told us that you were seeing Number instead of the Contacts full names ?

In the Contacts app the individual card do contain both name and Contact details such as iPhone numbers.

However in Messages you are only seeing Numbers.

Can you check the Address Card fro your own Details (The My Card).

It is marked by a Head and Shoulders icon.

If there is no Card with the Head and Shoulders iCon find your Detail and use the Card Menu > Make this My Card.

At this point restart the Mac as the Contacts app ties in with so many other apps  and they store the "read' State when they launch and not info that changes.

Also in the Contacts app go to the Menu > Preferences > Accounts.

Only one account should be active.

The Default tends to be On My Mac but if you have iCloud syncing the info with an iPhone you should have that Active.

Other common options are Google and Yahoo (I presume Facebook but I don't trust them enough to have an account)

I have had issues where  my iCloud and On My Mac were active at the same time (Although I have never been able to replicate it).
