Problem with external audio outputs... HDMI, Ai...

I have a 2017 MacBook Pro 15" that I've only owned for a couple months.

With the correct adaptor, I have always connected an HDMI from my MBP to my TV, and the audio has been sent along with the video with no issues, as it should.

But today, the audio would only play through my internal speakers.  I opened up "Sound Preferences" and made sure that the TV was selected.  I'd go back and fourth, selecting the internal audio speakers, and then back to TV.  It successfully selected the options I was wanting, acting as if it worked, but the audio itself was still coming out through my internal speakers.  I tried using a different TV, and a different HDMI cable, to see if the problem was another piece of hardware, still with no success.

Since this wasn't working, I decided to play the audio through my stereo using Airplay (something I've done before with no issues), but it never gave me the option to select Airplay as it normally does.  Then I tried playing audio through my stereo using Bluetooth, which is also something I've done before with no problem.  The Bluetooth connected successfully, but no audio again.

I've completely restarted the computer twice now, and tried every option again after doing these.  Still no luck.  I have no idea what the problem could be, seeing as all of these things have worked in the past.
