Where did Sierra place my Documents folder

I just upgraded from Yosemite to Sierra and I can't find my document folder. I am not talking about iCloud documents the actual folder on my Mac, I have a sparse image folder that I can't find on my Mac. I have it backed up to an external folder but can't find it on my Mac.

Try Spotlight. Click the Spotlight icon (looks like a magnifying glass icon) top right corner of your screen.

If you enabled Desktop and Documents in iCloud, then they are displayed in iCloud Drive. They were not moved at all, just displayed there and not in your Home folder.

If you enabled Optimize Storage, then older files are stored only on iCloud.

I think if you search for the old files as Carolyn pointed out, you can find them. I didn't spend much time playing with Desktop and Documents in iCloud, so I'm not certain how they expect you to find the "older" documents.

Upgraded to Sierra. Regret it already. Macbook Pro is hideously slow. Beachballs for every task.

Already zapped PRAM / done disk permissions/ Deleted free space /Deleted launch daemons .etc etc..

Just hideous..

Uninstall whatever crapware you have installed and start your own post. Your problems have nothing to do with this thread.

=> Finder => iCloud => Documents

Hope you fid this helpful.

I'm on this thread because I have the same issue as iflores.

Crapware? I don't have any crapware... Such a professional answer I'll be sure to look out for your future gems...

I just bought a new computer loaded with Sierra and can't find my Documents folder either.  I see one on icloud but I just want one on my hard drive!

Copy the files from iCloud Drive to a folder other than Documents and the Desktop. Go to System Preferences/iCloud/iCloud Drive/Options and turn off syncing or if you want to sync, turn off Optimization. Rearrange the files as desired. If desired, you can then delete the files from iCloud if syncing is turned off.
