Window edges snapping to each other

Is there a way to turn off the new feature that causes the edges of windows to snap to each other? I already know about holding down the option key while dragging a window but I'm looking for a permanent way to disable this system-wide. It's driving me crazy.

Interesting. The attraction of one window to another is so low I forgot Sierra even had a window snapping function. It's funny what can drive one crazy.

In my line of work, I have to move windows around a lot, positioning them in exact locations. This feature causes me constant hassles. I'm not sure why there doesn't appear to be a way to turn it off. Sure would be nice.

Are you asking about Finder windows? How do you enable that feature system-wide?

I vaguely recall there is a way to do that, but that's not default Finder behavior.

Other than the option key you already mentioned I don't know of any.

So Apple removed my last comment, I want an answer to this problem, this is a clearing omition in the OS update, has anyone found a solution to this unacceptable problem?

Drag the windows faster.

Your kidding right? So I have to change the way I work because of this new bug? No, that is not acceptable. There has to be a way to disable this, either via terminal or settings I do not care which.

I am not the only one with this problem!

First it's not a "new bug". It's a new feature that was added in Sierra. And no, you are not the only one with this problem. There is Rick who first posted and I found at least 4 others on various forums who don't care for the feature. I think that with a half a dozen or so users not caring for it out of millions that is saying something. Many users don't even know the feature is there.

It seems that the new rule is that if you don't like something it's a bug, if you do it's a feature

Ahhh. That explains that.

I don't recall having this issue before Sierra because it's been happening to me so much in the past few months, and I don't know I haven't changed much in the way that I work or drag windows, except now I have to be so careful about the way I drag a window.

But I wonder if it is affects Wacom tablet users more than others, or people with dual screens like I have, that's my setup. I use a Wacom tablet for work and I am used to moving windows around quickly. I click on an edge to fast and suddenly the window resizes and sticks to the nearest edge.

Even though this changes the way that I have to slow down in my file moving process, I wouldn't say it's a big deal and I didn't consider it a bug, but it's an annoyance for sure especially that I don't have the option to turn it off as I have to keep resizing windows when I'm in the middle of rush work. So is this frequently happening to users with a regular mouse also?

FWIW, the snapping windows feature should not resize windows at all. It only snaps a window to the closest border.

as the article mentions you can temporarily disable snapping windows by holding the option key down before you drag a window.

Something else if going on if your windows resize.

this should not be opt out, it should be opt in. or at the very least have a system setting that disables it. it gets me every day, multiple times, especially when I am using the Wacom pen to resize and move the small windows to where they need to be...
