when using apple's mail program how do I remove the vertical line when I forward email ?

You can copy the text to TextEdit which is to doesn't recognize the veritcal line. Then copy the text back to your Mail message.

If you are doing this on an iPhone:

For forwarding or replying to an email without the Blue Vertical line to the left of the text...

- Open the email

- Select Forward or reply (this will open a new window)

- Select All of the text in the new email.

- In the pop-up bar that says "cut, copy, paste" select the right arrow for more options.

- Select Quote Level

- Select Decrease

Voila!

A much easier solution:

  1. Select the message
  2. On the top menu, select Message -> Redirect
  3. Send!

So easy, thanks so much!!!

YES THANK YOU

Cooperton, you rock. Thanks!

Perfect, Cooperton!   This is, as you say, the easiest of all solutions.  In OSX, all you have to do is right-click the selected message and the 'redirect' option is towards the bottom.  Thx so much!

Hi - I stumbled on the same question and think that I found a simple solution:

I found the icon for 'indent' on the line with mail formatting icons;  it is rightmost on the line below

Suboptions are:

I found that the vertical line disappears when you (first) select the lines for which you want the vertical line to disappear, then (second) select "Indent" > "Outdent".  For reference - the Mail app is version 10.3 on my MacOS Sierra.

I hope this is still of interest/useful to others. Kind regards,

Jacques
