after upgrade to 10.12.4 keyboard connected to ...

I have a MacBook Air (13-inch, Early 2015) connected to an Apple Display. I have a wired USB keyboard connected directly to the back of the display.

After the update, I find that the wired USB keyboard becomes non-responsive every now and then. The only way to fix it then is to physically remove/disconnect the Apple display's thunderbolt connector form my MacBook Air and reconnect. Things are fine after that but this is annoying.

Initially it appeared that the disconnect happened only with sleep i.e. when the MacBookAir went to sleep the connected keyboard would not respond on wakeup. However I have now started seeing this happen even outside of sleep.

try an SMC reset.

Tried that. Problem remains

Same problem here on MacBook Pro (15-inch, 2016) macos 10.12.4. USB Keyboard ceases to work after sleep. The only (irritating) workaround has been to attach/detach usb. Also tried SMC reset to no avail.

So this problem got fixed partially but annoyingly lives on...

Keyboard connected to my mac display disconnects every time I get a notification (e.g. mail, iMessage, Slack etc.)  No longer an issue when the laptop goes to sleep however.
