MBP 13 2015 display brightness issue
I have a MBP 13", early 2015 which has an occasional screen brightness issue.
It happens about once a fortnight after the notebook was left closed. Once I open the notebook, the screen flickers briefly and then seems off, but I can see the display if I shine a light on it. If I turn off the power cord and press F2 until max brightness is set - the screen works okay. But going just one step down dims the display completely. Moreover, turning the power cord back in makes all brightness settings unusable - ie. the screen is dark no matter what I click.
As mentioned, this happens randomly and is resolved by a restart until the next occurrence. For the life of me, I cannot determine a trigger - the issue doesn't seem to happen after using a specific app or after a specific update. The laptop is new, purchased less than half a year ago.
I don't feel like taking it to the store given that I cannot replicate the issue on demand.
I'm running macOS Sierra 10.12.6 (16G29).
Do you reckon this is a hardware or software issue?
