Evidence of fruitfly malware? Unknown process i...
This is the installer log from my computer running in Recovery Mode. The suggestion reinstall the OS is not helpful, as I've done that countless times. Please don't recommend an etrecheck either. As I mentioned previously the program attempts to connect with a known malware host as confirmed by Google. Kindly prove, beyond a reasonable doubt, that what I've provided above is not evidence of malware. If
"unknown" is part of the standard operation, well then that's it for me.
And, yes, I know how to read a log. It's not that hard...really... Consult the developer documentation if you struggle with this. One should probably have something authoritative as a reference anyway...
Some items that seem problematic:
1. opendirectory is the first thinig to do anything. I don't use any active directory or ssh into anything, ever.
2. opendiretoryd is a mach service?
3. It resets stats, cache, and registers an endpoint?
4. Then registers 2 nodes as hidden?
5. hidd cares that a user is active? uh duh I just started recovery mode, there's a user active...
6. unknown notes when the kernel booted..
7. then opendirectoryd makes apsd root
8. tries to create a null uuid for a node, fails
9. starts up language chooser
10. computer is like uh you can't do that 10x
11. the rest is just ridiculous..
Once again in Recovery Mode...set nvram boot-args to -x (safe mode) and have a firmware password so I guess this is in force in recovery which is extra concerninig that all this nonsense happens in safe mode on my recovery partition.

Aug 21 14:04:04 MacBook-Pro Unknown[467]: 2017-08-21 14:04:04.796 macOS Utilities[488:18417] *** WARNING: Method userSpaceScaleFactor in class NSWindow is deprecated on 10.7 and later. It should not be used in new applications. Use convertRectToBacking: instead.
The last line implies whoever programmed all this is using code from before Snow Leopard. Probably purposefully as an exploit but still would say that's very sketchy. I am working on a "shocking statistic" about how many computers out there may be infected with fruitfly malware, which owns your computer and data..really..go google it. You'd probably never know it was there either.
Pretty sickening to think and that it sure seems like there are malware distributors/cyber criminal active on this website, getting users who are seeking assistance to run software which downloads malware to their computer, and one of the top downloads in the Mac App Store is malware itself.
I'll be reporting this to the US-CERT and IC3 as soon as I find the time to learn how to request CVE IDs from MITRE Corporation, since I've attempted to contact Apple Product Security who is totally non-responsive.. Not very reassuring..
This is absolutely fantastic. Please keep up the good work!
