How can I merge my regular music with iCloud mu...

So check it, whenever I subscribed to "Apple Music" and therefore activated "iCloud music"  it gave me the option to "keep & merge" my music or to delete all current music and add only iCloud. Well I chose keep & merge but whenever I tried to play a few of the songs from my regular library it kept saying "item cannot be played" and the song is kind of faded out. I tried everything from de-authorizing and re-authorizing my computer, deleting the track and adding it again to re-syncing my phone and computer and nothing worked. I've had this problem for a while and have persevered through the frustration. I will admit some of the music in my library was acquired from other places but they're all reputable downloads. Someone help !!
