sierra will not remember wifi password
I have tried everything, resetting everything. Sierra will not remember ANY wifi password. When I try to delete the key chain, I get UNIX[Operation not permitted]. I tried following instructions from this page Cannot Delete Key from System Keychain and when I entered "chflags norestricted /V*/*/L*/Keyc*/*" it failed.
I don't know what else to do.
I am currently running MacOs Sierra 10.12.3 on MacBook Air (13-inch, Early 2014).
Hi,
Open AirPort Utility located in HD > Applications > Utilities
Then click on the router icon then then click Edit then select the Wireless tab.
Then type in the password to the right of: Wireless Password
Then Verify Password then click Update.
You should be prompted to save that data to a new keychain. Click Yes.
You should be able to delete a keychain by right or control clicking a keychain then click Delete.
Well, can't say anything about why you're having a problem, but noticed that the chflags command you typed has a /V instead of /v and it makes a difference - /var is not /Var
Good luck...
Please read and follow these instructions: Resolve issues caused by changing the permissions of items in your home folder - Apple Support.
Use caution when following instructions for superseded macOS versions. They may no longer apply and might exacerbate whatever problem you are encountering. Using caution in this circumstance means have a plan to recover from making a mess of things.
Airport Utility only works on apple routers. I have an asus router. Also part of the problem is that I don't have permission to delete my own keychain. I have reset permissions, but that did not help.
Thank you
I just tried this. I still cannot delete the keychain. I still get UNIX[Operation not permitted].
Thank you
That might have been the result of using random Terminal commands you find on the Internet.
Unless you want to Contact Support the only thing I can suggest is to reinstall macOS: About macOS Recovery - Apple Support.
Actually, that happened long before I tried any terminal commands, and those commands came from apple support.
Then call them again. Provide your case number, tell them it's still not fixed, and ask them what they intend to do about it.
Are you trying to delete keychain from system library , if you click on go > computer > Macintosh HD > Library > Keychains if it is yes keychain is the major part of the operating system and it is not recommended to delete the keychain folder , as permissions are set by default .
I don't know why did you tried to delete , but the best option is consult with senior advisors in apple support , you could get help from them .

Hi, did you manage to fix this issue? I face the exact same with Sierra. Also spent time with 2 Apple Supports, trying deleting the key chain, emptying the bin and restarting - no results.
Apple support told me to restore the mac with Time Machine: did you try? Does that work??
