Suggestions for SSD Fan Control Settings

Hi!

Just upgraded my broken HDD to a SSD in my iMac mid 2011. Problem now is off course excessive fan noise.

So i downloaded SSD fan control, but I'm not sure of the settings (with respect to not damaging any components).

Here´s the settings now:

It´s completely silent now, but i have no clue if it´s the right "choice" in order for it be kept cool.

Mostly working in Microsoft Word and browsing the web atm. No heavy processing going on.

Could anybody point me in the right direction as to what is appropriate temperatures?

Replace the missing temperature sensors (OWC)

Well, guess i´ll have to talk to customer service first then, because i don´t understand how they can put in SSD drives and not make sure that the temperature sensors (or lack of sensors) are not working properly. Otherwise, i am not gonna start fiddling with anything inside the iMac, so i would appreciate if anybody had any suggestions for the settings.

Who are 'they'

Apple will not install SSD drives into computer that did not originally ship with an SSD. I suspect you either may have had a repair shop that isn't an AASP install the drive, can you confirm?

The repair-people at my local apple store

Apple Stores will not install a SSD where a HD used to be. You did not take the computer to an Apple Store.

Probably so - yes. I live in Norway so it´s not THE Apple store.. its called "Apple-house". I get confused with this stuff..

Was it really an Apple Store, or someone else.

Take it back to them and ask them to fit the temperature sensors that they neglected to fit previously.

Thanks guys, i will. Just so annoying, they used 3 weeks putting in the disk, now i gotta return it again...

Agreed, going forward you should only use an Apple Authorized Service Provider to work on your Mac. If you don't know of any in your area, you can begin finding one by clicking

No, but they are certified That´s why i am complaining.. It´s not like i delivered it to the "PC-guy" at the corner. They are 100% certified and authorized by Apple. So when they have an offer of putting in an SSD drive, it should not make that much noise afterwards.. hehe. anyways, i´ll contact them.

Then you have a legitimate gripe with them, grrrrr.

I sympathize with you. It's OK to tell them rather than ask
