connect an external speaker to MacBook Pro 2016

I want to connect a high quality speaker system to my MacBook Pro 2016 for use in medium size rooms (around 400 -600 sq. ft. that allow for good sound from video and music sources. I use the MBP for lectures I do on art and watercolor techniques as well as projecting worship music videos for a house of worship.

So How do I do this? What brands of speaker systems are compatible with he MBP 2016?
