High Sierra freezes during install 2011 MBP 15&...

I checked the requirements for High Sierra and downloaded it on me and my fathers 2011 MBP 15”. It downloaded and then went to reboot. Upon reboot, it goes to the login screen, I login, then it will either attempt to login again and freeze or it will progress to the Apple logo and freeze. When I go to internet recovery, it shows both hard drives as completely full. This is odd as it wasn’t the case at all prior to the download. The hard drive is a 256 SSD and was less than half full. My only options is to attempt a restore. Thoughts?
