Browser redirect all browsers/all search engines

My wife's MacAir has a redirect virus that affects ALL search engines on ALL browsers. I conclude it's buried somewhere in the Sierra OS. I don't know where she acquired it, but the latest versions of Malware Bytes and ClamXAV anti-virus don't see it at all. My laptop, on the same network using the same DNS, is unaffected.

The redirect affects search ads. For example, search "classic legos" and the page (without AdBlock) shows a set of lego sets for sale by Target and Wal-Mart. Pointing the cursor at one of the items results in a display of a url to Target or Wal-Mart showing at the bottom to the screen (in Safari, at least), but clicking on the link, or even copying the link results in a redirect to googleadserver.com (for a Google search) or 61000012.r.bat.bing.com (for a Bing search). We use DNSCrypt (from Open DNS) which I suspect is the reason that the redirect "can't find the server," but my wife is blocked from accessing the link she's trying to click on as well :-(

So, where is the browser redirect malware hiding and how can I get rid of it? Thanks.
