WatchOS 4.0 decreased screen sensitivity?

Hello,

I have a 42mm Series 2 Nike Apple Watch, I found the watch housing and glass screen mark very easily. So from day one, I purchased a TPU screen protector which wraps around the watch face to protect the screen and the corners from knocks and damage.  Using the Touchscreen through the TPU protector worked great.

It then received its update to WatchOS 4.0. Since the update I can no longer use the touchscreen when the TPU protector is fitted, it just doesn't recognise finger presses or swipes regardless of how hard I press?

This looks to be directly related to the software update. I have restarted the Watch multiple times to no avail. When I take the screen protector off the watch functions perfectly.

Is anyone else experiencing this issue? If so has anyone found a way to increase the screen sensitivity or functionality back to how it was prior to WatchOS 4.0?
