My system memory is not accurate

Okay so apples built in About app shows my "system" memory as 31gb! However when i run third party software my system memory is 7.8gb! Anybody else experiencing this and know what i should do?

Also how do i purge that purgeable memory too

All those displays refer to storage, not memory. There are two explanations for this:

1) What the graph shows as "System" is much more than what is in the "System" folder. Instead, add the total of all the other folders, subtract "Users", "Library", and parts of "Applications" and that should be what the "System" value in the graph represents.

2) That storage graph is notoriously inaccurate.
