iOS 11 drag drop image extension

I'm not a developer so I don't know where else to file this... Something I've noticed using iOS 11 (11.0.1 15A402) and Google Drive (v. 4.2017.37510) which was updated yesterday for Files. Images dragged from Photos to Drive have a .jpeg extension, whereas the same image dragged from Photos on macOS (Sierra 10.12.6) to a finder window have a .jpg extension.

 

This is a large part of my job right now, so I was thrilled I could finally do this from my iPad Pro, however because of the subtle difference in extension, it becomes possible to have difficult-to-see duplicates.

 

I'm not sure if this is an iOS thing or Google thing... Anyone else see this?
