Syncing Mailboxes between Devices

I have purchased a desktop for my home (Sierra, 10.12.4) and have been using a laptop for years at my office (El Capitan, 10.11.6). I would like to open Mail on the desktop and see the same mailboxes I have on my laptop. Must these be imported in some way? Can I just sync the two via iCloud? I see email on both machines, use IMAP settings.

If you add the same accounts to the iMac, the e-mails should sync if it is IMAP, and you haven't deleted them at work. If you are referring to On My Mac mailboxes, you would need to copy them to the iMac.

I have the same issue. What is the best way to copy them across ? Does it matter that MacBook is El Capitan and the Mac is Sierra?
