In Built Camera no longer functions (I thought)

So around the time Skype became all Microsoft, my in built camera ceased to function on my 2009 Macbook. I thought it was just age. I followed a couple of threads to see if it could work but to no avail.  Then I had a conference call with someone using Zoom and it was all there working again. But the Mac still doesn't recognise it so I can't use face time or photo booth.

Ive since fully rebooted and taken Mac back to mountain lion but it still doesn't recognise the camera!

Any ideas please?
