Manual keychain import safari problem

hey guys, so I'm after a way to transfer my keychain to another Mac but without iCloud I managed to get all my passwords onto my new Mac via this method

create new keychain on old mac

copy passwords from local to new keychain, which required entering my password a lot

copy keychain file to new mac

import keychain

copy back to local keychain

delete older keychain

the problem I'm having is although they are there in keychain, safari won't recognise them, theres nothing in safari/preferences/passwords.

is there a file or a keychain I'm missing that makes keychain talk too safari?
