Thank you. I did figure it out, downloaded and ran the program.

Seems it worked! So far so good!

Thank you

I have been very wary of trying malware removal tools due to also having the mackeeper virus...is the one you recommend approved and recommended by apple? Thank you,

No. It is written by a users of these forum and highly recommended by the users here. It works very well.

It is your decision as if you are going us it or not.

If you decide against this recommendation them yo will have to do it by entering the appropriate commands into Terminal.

It is your choose.

Ok, since this is an Apple forum I will take a leap of faith and try it!

Good luck. It has always worked for me.

Hmmm, when I click the link for Zamana. It says it supports Windows OS. I do not use windows. Any thoughts?

Worked when I installed the application, malwarebytes but it stopped working when I removed malwarebytes. So, I am not sure if it addressed the problem or if it appeared to resolve it.

Allan do you work for this company of have some kind of association with malwarebytes?
When I google Allan Eckert, Malware, your name pops up in an awful lot of forums.
You're either passionate about helping people with malware all around the Internet,

or you "have a dog in this fight."

Allan does not have any kind of affiliation with Malwarebytes. I can say that definitively because I'm the Director of Mac & Mobile at Malwarebytes. We do not pay people to post positive reviews on forums, if that's what you're suspicious about.

Right, Malwarebytes, the best solution I've got.

I am suspicious about all things related to the adware/malware industry

Is there any company out there that is creating malware in order to sell its solution to malware?
Is there any company producing malware/adware solutions which themselves serve as malware/adware?
Is there any malware/adware solutions company paying people to post positive reviews on forums?

I think we can confidently say "yes" to all of those questions, without pointing to individual offenders.
I'm not sure who is behind  http :// ssp.zryydi[.]com

but it goes to show that trust is a problem when it comes to installing extensions/software/etc

that said, my question to Allen may have been hasty....google results to forum postings sometimes overlap/duplicate.

No. That is a conspiracy theory myth from the early days of malware, when many people didn't actually believe in the idea of computer viruses. This has never actually been documented to happen.

Is there any company producing malware/adware solutions which themselves serve as malware/adware?

Sure. Look for anti-virus software in the Mac App Store and you'll find a bunch of them. (Incidentally, Malwarebytes is the only company I know of to aggressively detect and remove such programs.)

The fact that fake and junk anti-virus software exists doesn't make legit anti-virus software less legit.

Legitimate companies? No.

Crap companies whose software deserves to be treated as malware? Sure. The company behind MacKeeper, for example, was at one point documented to give users free copies of the software in exchange for a positive review on MacUpdate.
