(com.apple.quicklook[3854]): Endpoint has been ...

My log message says "(com.apple.quicklook[3854]): Endpoint has been activated through legacy launch(3) APIs. Please switch to XPC or bootstrap_check_in(): com.apple.quicklook" How do I do this?

Quicklook is a feature of Mac OS X, which Classic is not.  It is the icon that looks like an eye on the Mac OS X Finder window toolbar, and is available when control-clicking a file.

Legacy APIs might actually refer to old Rosetta compatible programs.  Did you migrate from a PowerPC Mac to the MacBook Pro?

Or it might just simply refer to an older version of Mac OS X.

Are you a programmer?     APIs are parts of code referring to regular routines that are used in computer programming.

Have you installed any system modification programs?

I've asked this thread be moved to Sierra forum, since your signature says you are running that.

Hi i have same problem.

Same error in the logs on 10.12.X. I have done a clean install of 10.12.3 and then 10.12.4 after wiping my harddisk so this error isn't related to the migration of preference and data from old Mac build.

This is very much in the vanilla OS and Apple should be clarifying if it relates to an issue. I have been on these forums trying to find answers as my MBP 15" Late 2016 crashes every few days and Apple support doesn't have any solution.

If older APIs are used that's used by Apple supplied programs in the current version of the OS - 10.12.4. I see this error before almost all the crashes on my MBP 15".

I occasionally come in to find my Mac Pro (Late 2013) off. Usually after an extended period of non-use, like over the weekend.

I was looking in the logs for the last thing logged since it turned off yesterday, and I see this:

May 21 10:12:41 My-Ethernet com.apple.xpc.launchd[1] (com.apple.quicklook[61456]): Endpoint has been activated through legacy launch(3) APIs. Please switch to XPC or bootstrap_check_in(): com.apple.quicklook

I am on 10.12.5.

Seems to correlate with ozapplepro's experience--this error being related to unexpected OS crashing.

Sorta grasping at straws here. I, too, contacted Apple Support, and they gave me the vanilla runaround/standard diagnostics, even suggesting reinstalling the OS. That would be a lot of trouble for likely not solving the issue. It is odd that a core thing like quicklook is not updated to use the recent APIs. Also seems odd this could relate to a crash, but it's what's in the logs last..

I have this issue as well.

I have been running Xcode 9 since the first beta.

I have 4 projects that have workspaces.

At some point for "no reason" Xcode crashes when I open each of the projects.

Each project uses libraries that work in Xcode 8/Swift 3 but do not work for some reason in Xcode 9/Swift4.  E.g. AVFoundation: Undefined symbols for supportedFlashModes in AV... | Apple Developer Forums

When it crashes I get this in the logs:

Sep 25 10:28:55 Williams-MacBook-Pro-2 com.apple.xpc.launchd[1] (com.apple.ReportCrash[951]): Endpoint has been activated through legacy launch(3) APIs. Please switch to XPC or bootstrap_check_in(): com.apple.ReportCrash

I'm blocked from continuing my job because of this.

Very frustrating.
