mac wifi problem: constantly need to disconnect...

Hi,

All of a sudden about two weeks ago my mac ran into this problem. Using the net to browse I would after 5 mins need to turn on and off wi-fi

This does not happen with my phone on the same network

This does not happen on youtube on my laptop, or with downloads, only browsing

My laptop is fine with other wi-fi networks

Ideas?

Macbook air

IoS 10.12.6

Does this happen regardless of which Wi-Fi network you connect your MacBook Air (MBA) to or just one specific network?

Ref:

Tesserax, this just happens with one specific WiFi network. I don't think it's the network as my phone works fine on the network

Ok, two things to try:

  1. Use another web browser.
  2. Create a new user account. Log off the current account, and then, log back in with the new account.

Did either of these fix the problem?

Ok will do. By the second one, do you mean a whole new user account for my mac or just for the browser?

... for the Mac.

Would I not lose access to my files?

Only temporarily while you’re logged on with the new user account. Remember this is only to test whether your current account may be where the issue resides.

Hi Tesserax.

Interestingly, the problem has gone away when I created a new user account. What are the implications/what should i do?

Thanks
