itunes backup + iphone 7

Hello Apple community -

I am wondering if my itunes backup is working correctly after a few days of error messages.

Here's the info -

using windows 10 version 1703 - plenty of space to backup - Intel core i7

using iphone 7 - all updates have been added except ios 11   (waiting on that one)

itunes version 12.7.0.166

I had trouble with a few backups showing this message:

Iphone 7 cannot be synched.  An unknown error occurred (-54)

I uninstalled itunes and downloaded the latest version 12.7.0.166

Tried to sync and backup my phone and the error messages have gone away.

As the backup starts I can see the phone icon

steps 2 of 5 (backing up) - blue line goes all the way

steps 3 of 5 (copying diagnostic info)  - blue line goes all the way

then the apple icon comes on

Here's the question - are there steps 4-5 that should be showing up? It says that the backup was done at the right time of day today.

I am contemplating getting another phone and would like to restore from backup but am wondering if the backup is complete or if there is something missing.
