Transfer Apple ID for 90 days

I have a macbook and I have setup a user account for my wife. I have iTunes match and a huge library, she doesn't.

When she tries to download past purchases from iTunes so we have a backup, it insists that there is another apple ID associated (mine) and wants to transfer, therefore locking my own account for 90days.

What is the point in having a separate user area if she can't use it? What options do i have apart from using a USB drive on a different computer?
