Is there any other method to back up and restor...

With the new larger memory sizes, restoring a device that is 256 gig or 512 gig can take a few days over the Internet via iCloud. Shouldn’t apple offer us some alternative solution?

You can back up to a computer via iTunes. See: How to back up your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch - Apple Support

This only helps with the document data. Apple relies on having all the Apps reinstalled over the web. Thus, if you have many of them and they are large (I’m a musician and developer) you are stuck with a process that can last days. They need to find a better solution for this reason as well as a means of selectivily restoring files when there is a settings preference corruption or such.
