Recently I noticed that whenever I unplug the audio jack, a red light shows up inside the port and turns off. But everything is working fine. Internal speakers are working, external speakers are working. So should I be worried?

Your MBP has a combination digital (optical/Toslink) and analog audio out jack. When you insert an optical/Toslink plug, the red light transfers audio via light. There is a tiny switch inside the jack, which turns on when it detects the plug, that should turn off immediately when you unplug a plug from the jack. Apparently yours is sticking just a bit, otherwise you wouldn't see the light. This won't be an issue unless the switch stays stuck, in which case it can usually be unstuck by quickly inserting/removing a plug a number of times.
