How do i unlock macOS Sierra disk

I was trying to do a reset, now I am trying to reinstall the macOS Serria, but at the point, i need to select the disk to commence the installation, the disk is lock and I can't proceed. I need help, please.

Mac model/year

which OS is on it now?

Did you buy it used or new?

And, why are you trying to do a reset?

Is your MacBook's hard drive encrypted with FileVault? If so, you will need to unlock it using Terminal in Recovery Mode.

It's a MacBook, 2009 with macOS Sierra 12.5.03 version, Bought as used
