How can I view current heart rate on iPhone whi...

When I start an Exercise activity on  my Apple Watch I would like to view my heart rate and other data on my iPhone. I do Elliptical exercise for cardio. The watch face is not convenient to view heart rate. The iPhone, which is placed on the Elliptical console, does not display the current activity status. I currently use the Endomundo IOS/watch app for monitoring my current activity; however, the workout does not sync into the IOS Activity Workout history.
