iMessage not working on Macbook Air

So I was trying to log into my iMessage on my MacBook but it kept saying something along the lines of it failed to reach the server, so I tried again and again for an hour and nothing worked. I thought it was my password so changed it and tried again. This time it said incorrect password. However, I was able to log into the iCloud and apple website. Does anyone know what I can do to get my iMessage to work again?
