Syncing Outlook 2016 Calendar Accepted Invitati...

I use Outlook 2016 on a Windows 10 PC. The problem is that whenever I accept an event invitation it only adds it to the 'My Calendars - Calendar (This computer only)'. Therefore it will not sync on my iPhone, it does not get to the iCloud calendar. I can manually create an event on my iCloud calendar but that is annoying. This seems like it should be easy to do but I have not been able to find a clear answer. Outlook will only add the accepted event to the default calendar but Apple says that the iCloud calendar can't be the default calendar. The best solution I have found so far is to use an Outlook plugin like 'Code Two Sync' to automatically copy the events from my local calendar on my PC to the iCloud calendar. I would say this barely works. While it does the job I constantly have issues where it stops the iCloud Outlook plugin from even loading, so nothing is syncing. After 5 to 30 minutes of troubleshooting I have it working again but the problem seems to keep coming back. It certainly doesn't seems ideal.

 

Am I missing something? Is this really the only way to accomplish this? I am beginning to question if I should just move to an Exchange calendar just to get my iPhone and Outlook 2016 to work better together. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
