Logic Pro x crashes on changing audio interface

Hi

I am running Logic Pro X 10.3.2 on a brand new iMac 4.2GHz Core i7 with 16GB ram. SSD hard drive.  OSX Sierra 10.12.6

I use a couple of different USB interfaces, notably a Focusrite Scarlett 6i6 and an iRig HD2 as well as a Rode USB mic. I like to switch between them depending on what I am doing and sometimes like to switch to the internal speakers for monitoring. Problem is when I change audio interfaces the program often crashes. This happens no matter which combination of interfaces are connected/disconnected completely at the time.

I was using a 2009 iMac with exactly the same interfaces and plug ins (mainly waves) without any problems. I have tried reinstalling Logic Pro but this has made no difference. Re booting the Mac doesn't help either.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

hanks

Just to get it out of the way: be sure when you click "apply" to change the interface in preferences, you don't touch anything, no other programs are running, and the project is not playing while Logic changes over to the new interface.

Another weird one: If you have the mic actively plugged in, be sure the gain is at 0 so no data is actively coming through the USB ports. Rarely matters but occasionally.

Only other thing I could think is to trash preferences. Could be an issue with CoreAudio but I wouldn't really know what specifically.
