What is "logd"?
My Macbook Air has been experiencing fast battery drainage and a very high-speed fan. I've recently checked activity monitor and a program called logd has been hogging up a lot of CPU (about 130%). Is it safe to force quit this process? Thanks.
Shut down and disconnect all external drives and connected devices:
if you are on a Macbook, Macbook Pro or Macbook Air, disconnect all but power
for MacPro or Mac Mini keep display, and original Apple mouse and keyboard
for iMac remove any external display on an iMac and keep the original Apple Mouse and Keyboard.
reset the SMC

reboot into safe mode

then reboot normally with devices still disconnected.
For futher analysis of your system you may post an Etrecheck report.

Hi,
If you have Chrome installed, that is likely the issue. It would be best to uninstall Google Chrome and use Safari or Firefox, but if you can't/won't, disable all extensions in Chrome.
Note: you may have to restart the Mac in order to see the changes in the process.
And if that doesn't work, yes, you can "force quit" the process.
Thank you tsk. I had this terrible logd problem which rendered my old Mac Book pro unusable. Uninstalling Chrome, followed by a reboot has solved it. As a complete non-tekkie I'm very grateful that people like you post solutions like this.
You're welcome.
